Here's a sampling of Joey's playing. Enjoy the back story with the
tune.
 |
Journey to the Sun
 | Written in with a wind-cries-Mary type of mood,
this tune was recorded by none other than James "Zota" Baker. James,
the former guitarist for WAR, took this song and gave it some great
lyrics, and it took on a whole new sound. Joey's does an
acoustic version of this at Genghis Cohen when he plays there. |

 | Late Nite
 | Late Nite started as a fluke. Thomas Whitman, a
producer for lots of made-for-TV movies and short documentaries was
searching for some music for one of his projects. Thomas approached
Joey and told him what he was looking for. Joey went to work
with the amazing keyboardist Mike Mullen and recorded this track in
Mike's studio. While only a short tune, Late Nite has appeared
everywhere from the Playboy Channel (like you pay attention to the
music) to promotional presentations to college jazz stations.

 | One of these Nights(snippet)
 | This song came about late one night
in the studio with a 'end of the night in Texas' type of sounds.
Thanks to Galo Pacheco for hearing the song before anyone else did. |

 | Tune for Bruce
(snippet)
 | While demo'ing some other material,
Joey wrote this while watching a VH-1 classic. Can you hear what
artist Joey sounded like? |

 | Freedom
is King (solo)
 | A long time ago, in a Los Angeles - far far far
away... Joey played in a rock band known as League of Nations.
They played everywhere in LA - Whisky a Go-go, FM Station, Club
Liengre, the Roxy, you name it, they played there. League of
Nations went the way of many LA band (creative differences), but the
music still remains pretty stellar. Here's a solo from their
hit, Freedom is King. |
More tunes soon. |
