Mrs. Theodosius MeehanCitys "Little Girl" is a big bride nowas reported in The New York World, July 1925Miss Madeline Gilroy, years ago call "New Yorks little girl" was married yesterday morning to Theodosius Meehan of No. 861 West End avenue in St. Agness Church, East Forty-third street. Monsignor Brann officiated at the ceremony, which, because of mourning in both families, was attended only by immediate relatives. Twenty years ago, when the late Thomas F. Gilroy was Mayor his six-year-old daughter Madeline frequently accompanied him to the City Hall. Playing in the corridors, she soon was known to all city officials. When she returned with her affianced last month to obtain a marriage license she held an impromptu reception. The marriage yesterday was the culmination of a friendship lasting, as Miss Gilroy phrased it, :from the time I was a tot playing around the City Hall and he a boy in knickerbockers." Her gown was of white silk crepe, caught up in front in pannier effect with a large butterfly of pearls and orange blossoms. Attached to her cap, which was arranged with a triple string of pearls, was a veil of Valenciennes lace. Her bouquet was of lilies of the valley and imperial orchids. Besides a pin set with twenty-eight diamonds, a gift of Mr. Meehan, the bride wore an antique ring that belong to her mother, a large topaz surrounded by diamonds in a curious setting of gold. Her only attendant was her younger sister, Dorothy, who wore a gown of while crepe and soft embossed velvet and a white Gainsborough hat with fluting of tulle. Mr. and Mrs. Meehan after a tour abroad will live in the city, where he is a shirtwaist manufacturer.
