Greetings all, As you probably have guessed, I have a great time creating this web site for everyone to share. Pictures of the family, goofy jokes, birthday announcements, and animated pictures and music go along way with me. But recently I had a conversation with someone discussing family history and I mentioned that somewhere back in my family's history, someone was Mayor of New York City. But with no hard information to back me up, there was some doubt, on both of our parts, as to the legitimacy of the claim. So a phone call to dad with my inquiry turned into a small quest for both dad and yours truly. I started out with a name. Thomas F. Gilroy. Okay, I had a starting point. Dad was going to send me some information he had and I hit the New York City Mayoral Web site (seems anyone can get a website nowadays). There was little mentioning of Mr. Gilroy, mostly in passing during speeches regarding changes that were started by Mayor Gilroy and just now being finished, or something to that extent. Yet no pictures or other information. Boo, hiss. Then a package arrived from New Orleans. We struck gold. Dad sent me the articles Ive listed below. Most of this is family history on dads side of the family because thats were we began. I only have two pictures available and they are black and white and the quality isnt the best, but hey, it WAS the age prior to digital cameras and such. So, its a work in progress. I hope to find out more information about family history and people they were connected with (the legal ones), and my hope is to have photos available of everyone for everyone to use. While my beautiful daughter Lily is only 2-years old, one day I hope she can go to my web site to find out all the information about her family she needs to get a A+ on a family history project. Or maybe Ill be lucky enough to remember all of the contents of this section of the web-site and tell her myself. Regardless, enjoy my latest hobby-in-progress. And if you have any information you would like to add, by all means, send it to me. And you can be honest, cause were family.
